Chef Ramon “Ray” Padilla has achieved a lot success for other chefs, now its his turn. Chef Ramon is more known for his take-charge attitude and New York Tenacity in the kitchen. However, despite his unconventional fusion style, he is without a doubt one of the best chefs in the world and has opened several successful restaurants to prove it.
Born in 1969 in Brooklyn, NY Ramon aspired to a life-long career as a Singer. He was, a very good singer and guitar player. Ramon sang with a few bands in High School, but his passion for creating in the kitchen was stronger. Ramon joined The Seafarers international Union at the age of 18 and attended the Harry Lundberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point, Maryland. He joined their culinary program in 1987. In 1989 he moved to California to embark on his new career path. Ramon landed a line cook job with a good corporation and he became a father at the same year.
In 2010 Ramon applied to work for Iron Chef Cat Cora. Chef Ray took the reins of the newly opened Cat Cora’s Kitchen in SFO and played a key role in the training and opening of Cat Cora’s Kitchen Houston. Within 90 days of opening the SFO location he earned her top reviews and placed 3rd. in the world, he had earned his wings. After some time, Ramon left Cat Cora’s restaurant taking his talent with him.
In 2013, Chef Ramon opened his first owned restaurant; Hayward Farmhouse, at the age of 43. The Bay Area restaurant is here to make a change in the culinary world. His ability to take traditional comfort foods and to fuse them with Asian and Latin ingredients and add California flare makes him unique.
